Frequently asked questions.
When does registration open for summer camp 2025?
Registration opens March 3, 2025 at 6:00am.
What does my camper need to bring to camp?
Please click HERE for a general list of items to bring to camp. Please also read all pre-camp communications through email starting 4 weeks before your campers session of camp.
What are drop-off and pick-up times?
Full weeks of camp start with registration at 3:30pm in Self-Control, our dining hall. Pick-up happens after baptisms at 4:00pm at the cabin you dropped your camper off at. A parent/guardian signature is required at pick-up.
How do I know which age group to choose?
Select the camp session based on the grade your camper is going into in the fall.
My camper wants to attend with a friend who already registered. Can you tell us which camp their friend is registered for?
It is a great idea for campers to attend camp sessions with their friends! We cannot give that information out. We encourage you to communicate with all of their friends to make sure they register for the same session of camp if they want to attend together!
What do I do if my church is helping pay a portion of my camper’s registration fee?
CHURCH CODES: If your church will be paying a portion of the registation fee for camp, you will need to get this code from the church. As you put camp sessions in your cart, you will have the option to enter a discount code. Enter your church code there. If you don't have the code when you register, please call the camp office with the code to have it applied before your child attends camp.
Does Little Galilee offer scholarships/financial aid for camp?
Absolutely! If you would like the link to fill out the scholarship application, please send an email to office@littlegalilee.org or call the camp office at 217-935-3809. We are here and ready to help thanks to the generous donors who fund our scholarship account!
What time are baptisms?
Every full week of camp ends on Fridays at the largest baptistry in central Illinois. We gather around our olympic size swimming pool at 3:30pm for baptisms. You will be notified as soon as possible if your child has made a decision to follow Jesus into the waters of baptism.
When do I need to register my camper?
Registration opens in March. You can register for a session of camp up until the day that camp sessions begin. Walk-in registrations are allowed as long as there is space. We want to warn you that some camp sessions fill up quickly, so we highly recommend registering in advance.
During summer camp, who do I contact after camp office hours are closed?
One of the year round staff will be monitoring our camp host cell phone which can be reached at 309-336-7683.
If a week of camp is full and my camper is placed on the waitlist, how will I find out if or when there is space available?
We understand that being placed on a waitlist can make a child and/or parent anxious, we make every effort to contact those on the waitlist as soon as possible when space becomes available. Unfortunately, that is sometimes very last minute when registered campers don’t show up at registration. Our recommendation would be to be prepared, if at all possible, to receive a last-minute phone call letting you know there is an opening even up to the first evening of camp. We will not call those on the waiting list if space is not available.
How much money should I put in my camper’s digital camp store wallet?
Full week campers have an opportunity to visit the Canteen (Camp Store) ten times throughout the week. The maximum amount each camper will be able to spend on snack items will be $4 per canteen time. We will use digital tracking for Canteen so you are encouraged to deposit the amount of money you would like your camper to have available into their Camp Store Wallet. Little Galilee apparel is also available for purchase during check-in and check-out times. Recommended deposit amounts for snack items: Pre-Kamp $0 : Day Camp $3-$4 : Overnight Camps $6-$8 : Half Weeks $15-24 : Week-long Camps $30-$40
What happens with money left over in my camper’s digital camp store wallet?
Money left over will be donated to Little Galilee or transferred to another family member within your household upon request.
My camper takes medication. Will someone be able to help them with that?
Yes, there is a registered nurse (RN) at every session of camp who dispenses all medication at each week of camp. All medication must be brought in original containers with doctors instructions and camper’s name. Over the counter medicine must also be in the original containers. Please only send the amount of prescription medication your camper will need for their session of camp.
Can I send mail to my camper during their camp session?
Yes, you can send mail. It is also very helpful if you put the camp session in the bottom corner of the envelope (i.e. “Junior Main 1”, “High School Wilderness 2”, “Junior High Outpost 1”, “Horse Camp”). However, any mail that does not arrive on time will be “returned to sender.” We recommend dropping off mail during the check-in process and we can give the camper the mail throughout the week.
My camper needs to leave camp for a short time (Dr. appointment, driver’s ed, job, sports practice/game). Can they still attend camp?
To have the best experience possible both for your camper and others as well, our suggestion is that campers remain at camp until the end of their camp session. Being at camp without distractions changes lives. We realize this may not always be possible. If your camper must leave, a parent must sign the camper out at the camp office. If the camper drove themself to camp, a parent must call the camp office to authorize permission for them to leave campus and the camper must sign themselves out at the camp office. When arriving back on campus, please sign the camper back in at the camp office. If it is after office hours please call 309-336-7683 and a year round staff will help you.
How does Little Galilee handle food allergies?
We will only make menu exceptions for people with food allergies and not personal lifestyle choices. If your camper has a food allergy, please email the allergy list to office@littlegalilee.org and we will make sure our kitchen manager knows of that allergy. You are welcome to bring food substitutions we can prepare if our menu items are not allergy friendly.
What is the horse camp lottery?
Campers wanting to attend Horse Camp must enter the lottery by March 5 at 6:00am. Enter the lottery by registering your camper for Horse Camp on our website on March 3 or 4. The lottery for Horse Camp will be chosen at 8:00am on March 5. Only first time Horse Camp participants may apply.
Can my camper bring their cell phone with them to camp?
Little Galilee currently has a no cell phone policy for our campers. We want your camper to be able to unplug without the pressures of social media and online communication. We also don't want cameras (which almost all phones have now) in the sleeping quarters and potentially the bathrooms. All of our year round staff, summer staff, dean's and faculty members have cell phones during the week and if a camper needs to call home, an adult facilitates that conversation.
